Neskowin, OR

Neskowin, OR

There is a small town just north of where I live called Neskowin. I always like coming here. It is quieter than the beaches in Lincoln City in the summer. That was one of the main reasons I came here today. I like painting alone uninterrupted. I find plein air a very intimate spiritual experience where there is only nature and me trying to listen to it.

It is an interesting area with stumps sticking when the tide is out. The stumps are known as Neskowin Ghost Forest, the remnants of an ancient sitka spruce forest. They have been estimated at approximately 2000 years old.
