Green Bottle and Iris

"Green Bottle and Iris"
20" x 16"
oil on panel
I wanted to paint it purple-green, where green was the dominant color, compositionally complex larger painting. It took me an hour and a half to arrange a set-up in such a way it would inspire me. Another thirty minutes - to decide which format - vertical or horizontal, and two days to paint it. I usually finish a painting in a day, but this one had to wait for me overnight. It wasn't a problem, paint didn't dry, just became stiff at some places with thinner application. I guess now it cannot be called "alla prima" (meaning at first attempt).

When I was painting flowers, I was trying to just suggest what was in front of me, trying not to say too much...
