30-Day-Painting Challenge - Day 21

I noticed that I usually paint with only two brushes. I know that some artists use a different brush for lights and darks or sometimes for different colors like blues or yellows. Not me. I'm not organized enough to do that. With my two brushes (a bigger and a smaller ones) I paint all my studies. I go through a lot of rags to wipe excess paint from the brushes...

I used Rembrandt lighting (a small concentrated light source is positioned to one side so that the light falls at a sharp angle) for this moody, dramatic study. I like lost edges like the ones in the shadow areas of the pitcher and the squash...
